Dylan Michalski buried a second-half goal to provide top-seeded Hunterdon Central all the offense it needed to knock off fourth-seeded Delaware Valley by a score of 1-0 in the semifinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament in Flemington.
Hunterdon Central’s victory advances it to the final round on Saturday where it will take on second-seeded Voorhees, winners over 11th-seeded Pope John by a 1-0 margin, at a neutral field in Sparta for the championship.
Colby Townsend recorded the assist on Michalski’s game-winning tally. Evan Schafranek turned aside a trio of Delaware Valley shots on goal to secure the shutout for Hunterdon Central (9-3-2).
Delaware Valley falls to 10-5 and will return to regular season action on Monday when it hosts College Achieve Central.
