KOKOMO – The Homestead girls soccer season came to a devastating end at the Kokomo Regional championship Saturday as Hamilton Southeastern's Sloane May scored with 11 seconds left in the game to give the Royals a 2-1 victory.

On the same field immediately afterwards, the Spartans boys took on Harrison in their own regional final. The boys game went longer – Homestead and Harrison were deadlocked at 2-2 after 80 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods – but the outcome was just as heartbreaking for the Spartans as the Raiders prevailed 4-2 in the penalty kick shootout.
