Holger Rune of Denmark suffered a season-ending left leg injury Saturday while playing Ugo Humbert in the Nordic Open semifinals in Stockholm.

In a text message to members of the Danish media, Aneke Rune said she was told by medical staff that her son had an Achilles injury.

"They are completely sure that it is a torn Achilles tendon, so it's of course very bad. Holger is, of course, completely devastated," Aneke Rune wrote, according to Flashscore.

"They say they can see it with the naked eye," she added.

Entering the match, the 22-year-old Rune had been nursing a left hamstring issue.

The injury occurred in the second set, with Rune leading the Frenchman 6-4, 2-2 and the game tied at 40. On the next point, Rune ran to catch up to Humbert's shot and slightly jumped as he hit the ball
