BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The final score and the outcome were the same.

Michigan State lost 38-13 for the second straight week but the effort and opponent were different.

Unlike being battered at home in a listless performance by UCLA, the Spartans (3-4, 0-4 Big Ten) showed up but an improved performance still resulted in a fourth-straight double-digit defeat. No. 3 Indiana (7-0, 4-0) had too much on both sides of the ball while pulling away for the 25-point victory at Memorial Stadium on Saturday .

“We’re never going to sit here and be jumping up and down after losing by multiple scores,” said second-year coach Jonathan Smith, whose seat appears to be heating up.
