Australia's Para Triathlon mixed relay team has sealed a spectacular silver medal to cap a superb World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong on Sunday.

The team of Lauren Parker, Jeremy Peacock, Maggie Sandles (with guide Lauren Sprague) and Jack Howell were only beaten by the fast-finishing United States team.

Parker led the field out of the swim, handing over to Peacock in third place behind fast-starters France, who front-loaded their team, and Brazil.

Peacock held his position after his race, with the Americans looming in fourth spot just 11 seconds back.

Third athlete Sandles held that gap to the US, moving up to second place overall and closing the gap to the French, who still led by almost two minutes.
