ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Just off Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta, a community’s Diamond Jubilee shines bright in an area that so often is shown at its darkest moments.

Antonio Cummings, the president of the Baker Hills at Greenbriar Neighborhood Association, moved into the house right next to his childhood home.

“I knew it was a sign that I needed to get involved in the community,” he said. “It was important to me to come back home so the next little Antonio growing up in the community knows he has some great examples to look up to, a little bit better than I did when I was a kid on the street.”

Campbellton Road sees its fair share of violence; just last month there were two shootings, including one fatality just down the street from Saturday’s festival.
