WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – Another weather system is moving into the Ohio Valley, and this one will arrive just in time to close out the weekend.
According to the Storm Prediction Center, areas mainly east of the Ohio River are under a marginal risk for severe weather on Sunday. While the overall threat remains low, there are still a few concerns to keep an eye on.
Gusty winds will be one of the main impacts, with some areas seeing gusts up to 40 mph. In spots where thunderstorms develop, wind speeds could be even higher.
Heavy rainfall is another concern. Forecast models are showing totals between a half-inch to an inch of rain in a short amount of time, which could lead to localized flooding in low-lying or poor drainage areas.
Timing-wise, rain is expected to move in between 12 and 2
