SHREVEPORT, La. – People across the U.S. held “No Kings” rallies this weekend, calling for unity and speaking out against what they see as government overreach.
House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized the event, calling it the “Hate America Rally.”
In Chicago, thousands of protesters gathered near Trump Tower, while in downtown Shreveport, more than 100 people came together outside the Caddo Parish Courthouse.
Many wore different costumes like chickens, bald eagles and Captain America to draw attention in a lighthearted way.
"We’re standing together because we see things happening that are unthinkable for America," said one protester.
Organizers said the protest was not about hate, but about bringing people together.
