DULUTH — Penalties are still an issue for the Bemidji State men’s hockey team.

The Beavers entered the home-and-home series having taken 10 penalty minutes per game, which is well above the status quo for a typically disciplined program. And after a slightly improved series opener in the PIM department, UMD’s potent man-advantage unit went to work on Saturday in Duluth at Amsoil Arena.

The Bulldogs scored four times on the power play. They were awarded seven power plays in total and punished BSU on their way to a 5-1 win and a series sweep.

“You have to walk before you can run,” Beavers head coach Tom Serratore said. “We have to find a way to fix some of these issues. We have to address and work on it, and we have a ways to go right now.”
