Doha, Oct 19: In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, the Qatari government announced that Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, bringing an end to several days of hostilities between the two neighbouring countries.

The truce follows a period of intense violence, including Pakistani airstrikes that reportedly killed at least ten people, breaking an earlier 48-hour ceasefire. Fresh negotiations, facilitated by Qatar, have now resulted in both sides committing to peace.

“During the negotiations, the two sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to ensure lasting peace and stability between the two countries,” Qatar’s foreign ministry confirmed in a statement.
