New Delhi: Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 1st ODI at Perth Stadium on Sunday, October 19. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will make his ODI debut in the series opener.
Ahead of the match, Nitish received his cap from Rohit Sharma, who will return to international cricket after more than seven months, along with Virat Kohli.
Nitish made his 50-over debut due to the absence of India’s premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was ruled out of the series due to a quadricep injury, which he picked up during the 2025 Asia Cup in the UAE.
The 22-year-old all-rounder has played nine Test matches and four T20Is for India. Interestingly, his Test debut also came at the Perth Stadium against Australia, in November 2024.
