Bellevue light rail trains remained out of service all day Saturday, with the line replaced by shuttle bus service throughout the day.

The 2 Line between South Bellevue Station and Bellevue Downtown Station failed early Saturday morning due to a power outage that damaged train equipment used to propel the train and overhead wires.

David Jackson, a spokesperson with Sound Transit, said service would likely resume as normal Sunday morning, but could not be certain repairs would be completed by then.

“It has been a challenge to restore service due to the power outage and the resulting equipment damage,” Jackson said.

He said once the trains are restored, “we will send rider alerts and let people know that service is available as usual.”
