CHAVES COUNTY, N.M. —

Deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. Friday to reports of a dead body south of Roswell, a Chaves County Sheriff's Office news release said.

The body appeared to have been dead for some time.

A search warrant was obtained and has been executed in connection with the person's death, which is being investigated as a homicide for the time being. The cause of death has not been determined, and the person's identity is unknown, the release said.
