VAN ALSTYNE, Texas (KTEN) -- Hours of harmonies and musical melodies filled the Van Alstyne high school band room this morning, as the next line of professional percussionists prepare to hit the right notes this competition season.

Juniors Luca Raner and Brayden Burleson have been drumming together for six years.

"We love drumming, we love being together, playing and doing it well," Raner said.

Saturday morning -- they struck their snares for six hours straight.

"We've all known each other since sixth grade," Burleson said, with emphasis. "We know each other."

The Panther Band's 'Drum-A-Thon' streamed a six-hour consecutive drumline from 7a.m. to 1p.m.

"Drumming is a huge part of my life," Raner said. "It's made a big impact on me, and a lot of others I know."
