Bryan County is moving forward with its plans to build a new jail.
During the county commissioner meeting Oct. 14, the board voted to pay $120,000 to Comprehensive Program Services to conduct a jail study. Research will include data collection, facility conditions assessment, cost estimate, timeline and more.
According to Sheriff Mark Crowe, the Georgia Sheriffs Association did a study three years ago. Their research revealed the need for a 475-bed facility, “to cover housing inmates out to a 20-year future projection," Crowe said.
