Crowd of passengers at Udhna railway station in Surat.
On the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja followed by Bihar Assembly elections, railway stations and bus stands across the country are packed with passengers heading to North India.
The maximum crowd of railway passengers is at Delhi, Surat and Udhna station of Surat. Passengers are waiting for trains, but difficulties are arising due to trains being full.
In Surat, thousands of people are unable to board trains despite having tickets. Lines of passengers have formed from the station to residential areas. People, hungry and thirsty for 12 to 18 hours, are making only one plea: they want to go home, but there is no space in the trains.
