Paris: In a brazen daylight robbery that has stunned the world, thieves struck the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday morning, making off with several priceless pieces from the Napoleon and Empress Joséphine jewelry collection. The audacious theft occurred shortly after the museum opened its doors, forcing authorities to evacuate visitors and temporarily close one of the world’s most iconic cultural institutions.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed that no one was injured during the incident. Preliminary reports from Le Parisien indicate that the thieves exploited ongoing renovation work along the Seine River side of the museum to gain access. Using a freight elevator, the perpetrators reached the targeted gallery and broke windows to seize the valuable artifacts.
