Guwahati, Oct 19 : Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has emphasised the need for an education system that fosters creativity and critical thinking rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge.

Speaking at the valedictory session of the North East Education Conclave 2025 in Guwahati on Saturday, Acharya said the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a timely initiative aimed at preparing students for the challenges of modern times.

The conclave, organised by Pragjyotispur University on the occasion of its foundation day, brought together educationists, policymakers, and academic leaders to discuss transformative strategies for improving education in the Northeast.
