ALLEN PARK — Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield are living the lives that are expected from former No. 1 picks: Both are playing for a contender and near the forefront of the MVP conversation.

But neither quarterback in Monday night’s game between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers took an easy road to get here, even after they were the top picks in their respective drafts, Goff with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 and Mayfield with the Cleveland Browns in 2018.
