The body of a man was found around noon Oct. 18 from the marsh between Lewis and Campbell Avenues along Highway 80, according to the Tybee Island Police Department (TIPD). No evidence of foul play was found, according to TIPD
TIPD hopes this announcement will quell misinformation, according to its Facebook post this morning.
"The public nature of the incident has led to rumors and widespread speculation," said the TIPD. "It’s important to know that we have no reason to believe there is any danger to the public in relation to this incident."
The TIPD is still awaiting an official report from the Coroner’s Office, the post stated. The man's identity has not yet been confirmed.
