Field fire burns crops right in the middle of department’s chili super fundraiser

GIBSON CO., Ind. (WFIE) - in Gibson County, before the rain came, dry weather didn’t help a field fire Saturday afternoon.

It was off of 350 South, near 450 East, in Francisco.

The Francisco Volunteer Fire Department says they had help from Patoka Township and local farmers.

They say that teamwork made all the difference in getting the fire under control quickly, despite it happening right in the middle of their annual chili supper fundraiser.

The department extended gratitude to everyone who came out, saying “Together, we are stronger.”
