MACON, Ga. — Many gathered downtown Saturday for Macon-Bibb County's fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival , a celebration of culture and community that returned to Cherry Street amid growing concerns about immigration enforcement.

The festival featured performances from Westside High School's band and La Candela Flamenco, along with food vendors and artisans from across the Southeast. Attendees came to eat, shop and celebrate Latin American culture through music, traditional dress and cuisine.

"We really need to continue to celebrate, and if we cancel the festival, we allow for that fear and the terrible things happening, especially to the Hispanic community, to win," a member of the Aiello family, who attended the event said. "It's really important that we show up."
