A woman is dead and several children aged 2 to 9 are injured after a driver crashed into a crowd at a birthday party in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Saturday, then fled the scene, police said.

A driver came from the direction of Annapolis Road and hit several people gathered outside a home in the 4100 block of 56th Avenue for a child's birthday party, police Bladensburg police said. Officers rushed to the scene about 10:15 p.m., police said.

The driver ran away from the crash scene, and police are trying to identify and locate them, police said. On Sunday morning, a spokesperson said no one had been arrested yet.

Eleven people were taken to hospitals after the crash, police said.
