A tiny kitten is recovering after an unexpected journey beneath a police patrol car, prompting a multi-agency rescue effort from Plymouth officers and local mechanics.

Officers based at Crownhill Police Station had an unusual start to their shift after hearing a faint meowing sound from the engine bay of one of their response vehicles on Sunday morning, October 19. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to reach the source of the noise, which was coming from deep within the car’s wheel arch.

Lacking the tools to dismantle the vehicle, the team turned to Kwik Fit technicians at their nearby Tavistock Road branch. There, staff managed to safely extract a two-day-old kitten believed to have been born inside the warm, sheltered area by a stray mother cat.
