The Alabama Crimson Tide moved into the top 5 in the Week 9 Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll released on Sunday (October 19).

The Tide moved up two spots from the Week 8 poll to No. 4 overall following its 37-20 win against the then-No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers in their annual ' Third Saturday In October' rivalry game Saturday (October 18) night. The Vols dropped six spots to No. 17 overall following the loss.

Three SEC teams currently rank in the top 5 with Texas A&M moving up one spot to No. 3 overall, Alabama at No. 4 and Georgia moving up four spots to No. 5 overall following its 43-35 win against Ole Miss on Saturday.
