HOUSTON — A postal worker who was delivering mail was killed Saturday in a crash in northwest Harris County. And now, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the driver who hit him is charged.

It happened along Antoine Drive, north of West Green Road in the Northcliffe Manor neighborhood.

According to Sgt. Villacorta with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a Dodge pickup truck, now identified as Jose Romero, was speeding when he lost control and hit the mail truck.

“The Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on Antoine Drive,” he said. “The male had just fled from a minor accident up the road at Veterans Memorial and Antoine Drive.
