A man in his 60s is dead after a fire broke out in a Montreal home Sunday afternoon.
The blaze broke out around 12:15 p.m. in an apartment on Grand Blvd., near Saint-Jacques Street, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.
When firefighters arrived, they quickly brought the fire under control and evacuated the apartment’s sole occupant.
Paramedics from Urgences-santé then transported the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Although the fire does not appear to be of criminal origin, the causes and circumstances are currently unknown, and the investigation has been transferred to the arson unit of the Montreal Police Service,” said spokesperson Manuel Couture.
