BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Brian Kelly’s popularity at LSU peaked in his first year, inheriting a tough situation and totally exceeding expectations. Kelly and the Tigers excited fans by thrillingly beating Alabama and then winning the SEC West to lock up a spot in the Conference Championship Game. Then, in the regular season finale at a Texas A&M team that was 4-7 overall and 1-6 in the SEC, the Tigers laid an egg and got whipped. From that point forward, it’s been a bit up and down for Kelly and company, with no breakthrough to elite status.

Now in year four, with a team Kelly proclaimed was the best roster he’s had in Baton Rouge, LSU has two losses in late October, and their playoff hopes are likewise on life support.
