The Edmonton Oilers have now lost three in a row on what is turning out to be a very poor Eastern Road swing.
Edmonton only managed three shots on the Red Wings in the first period, none especially dangerous but at least the frame ended scoreless. No such good fortune in the second, though, Detroit emerging with a 3-1 lead.
The Oilers finally found their feet in the third and drew the game to within 3-2, but they could not find the equalizer. A Red Wings empty netter sealed it.
