Olivia Moultrie scored two goals and the Portland Thorns locked up a postseason berth with a 2-0 win over Angel City FC on Sunday at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Facing a season with a young and inexperienced roster due to retirements, injuries and season-long absences, Portland could have viewed 2025 as a chance to rebuild and look into the future. But the Thorns are still very much invested in the present, and they extended a league record by securing a ninth consecutive playoff appearance and 11th in 12 seasons since the NWSL’s launch in 2013.
