Police asked the public for help Sunday identifying a hit-and-run driver who killed a 62-year-old pedestrian in Sherman Oaks.

The victim was struck at about 12:05 a.m. Sunday on Van Nuys Boulevard south of Huston Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said a black Tesla Model Y was traveling southbound on Van Nuys Boulevard when it struck the victim, who was in the roadway.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at scene. The victim was described as a 62-year-old resident of Ventura County. His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver did not stop as required by law, and the vehicle was last seen going southbound on Van Nuys Boulevard.
