RICHMOND, Ind. — A Richmond police officer was hospitalized after a being involved in a car crash while responding to a domestic disturbance Saturday night.

According to a release from the Richmond Police Department , around 10:31 p.m. on Oct. 18, officers were called to the 1400 block of South B Street on a report of a "heated, physical domestic disturbance."

While on the scene, police say officers became involved in a physical altercation with a male suspect, which prompted a call for backup.

As additional officers were traveling to the scene, an RPD vehicle became involved in a three-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of South A Street . Police say the patrol vehicle rear-ended a Lincoln MKZ, which then crashed into a Ford Ranger.
