KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sunday afternoon, dozens of East Tennessee families gathered in the World's Fair Park for the Knoxville Buddy Walk, hosted by the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee.
DSAG is a parent-initiated organization developed to provide information and support to families of individuals with Down syndrome, and the Buddy Walk helps raise money for programs and people in East Tennessee living with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk serves as one of the organization's biggest fundraisers of the year, according to Angie Holbet, the executive director of DSAG.
Holbert also said that the Buddy Walk is a way to show those living with Down Syndrome that they are not alone.
"They make friends and meet families, and people click. It's just like a big family," Holbert said.
