A magnificent sand art of Goddess Kali was created by international sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik on the Puri beach in Odisha to mark the Diwali celebrations on Monday.

Extending his Diwali greetings through his artwork, Pattnaik used around 1,000 earthen diyas to craft the sculpture, blending art with a message of sustainability and national self-reliance.

The artwork also carries PM Narendra Modi’s message of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

Through this initiative, Pattnaik aims to inspire people to appreciate indigenous craftsmanship and promote locally made products. His sand sculpture not only symbolises devotion but also reflects an environmental and social message for the festival of lights, as sources said.
