With his recent extension already in the books, it looks like Kevin Durant will arguably retire as a Houston Rocket. No, he’s not close to retiring yet, but the way his current contract is structured, he will likely play with the team until he’s 40.
He was eligible to sign a two-year $120 million extension this offseason, but opted for a lower amount, which is $90 million. Durant knows that with the current CBA, the Rockets would be hard-pressed to sign the needed talent to construct a championship-caliber roster. Amen Thompson was full of praise for his new teammate when a reporter shared the details that KD could’ve gone for more money.
“Oh. For real? I didn’t even know that. Generous guy. That’s what I’m saying. Great guy,” per Amen Thompson, as shared on X by The Rockets Wire.
