The 49ers maintained their position atop the NFC West on Sunday night with a prime-time 20-10 win at Levi’s Stadium over the visiting Atlanta Falcons.

The defense, playing without injured captains Fred Warner (ankle) and Nick Bosa (knee), slowed down Bijan Robinson and the Falcons offense, and Christian McCaffrey led the team in rushing (129 yards, two touchdowns) and receiving (seven catches, 72 yards).

Tatum Bethune assumed Warner’s role in the middle of the defense and led the 49ers with 10 tackles.

Mac Jones had a second consecutive muted game in place of the injured Brock Purdy, completing 17-of-26 passes for 152 yards and a tipped interception. That was all well and good because the defense bottled up Robinson (40 rushing yards) and the Falcons.
