NEDERLAND, Texas — The first Mid-County Madness matchup came in 1925, when the Nederland Bulldogs edged the Port Neches-Groves Indians 6-0. Nearly a century later, the game has grown into one of the most storied rivalries in Texas high school football.
Sports Illustrated recently recognized the matchup among the nation’s top high school rivalries, and locally it has long been considered the premier game of the year.
