The Albanese government has accused the Chinese military of dangerous behaviour after a People’s Liberation Army aircraft was again involved in an unsafe encounter with the Australian Air Force in international airspace.

The revelation of the incident, which happened on Sunday above the South China Sea, came just hours before Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s first meeting with US President Donald Trump, where relations with China will feature prominently.

Defence Minister Richard Marles said the government had raised concerns with the Chinese embassy in Canberra and authorities in Beijing about the incident, in line with the response to similar recent events.
