China has announced that it has forgiven two debts owed by Malawi, totaling approximately $20 million.
Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Lu Xu, made the announcement in Lilongwe on Monday during a training session for newly elected members of Parliament.
Ambassador Xu described the debt cancellation as a significant step forward, adding that China is also reviewing other outstanding debts Malawi owes, with the possibility of extending repayment periods.
