SNP ministers are under pressure to intervene over the Glasgow homelessness crisis amid claims they're trying to "shirk their responsibilities" on the issue. ‌

Labour MSP Paul Sweeney said the "fundamental issue" in the city is "an inadequate supply of housing to meet the demand of a growing population and enhanced homelessness rights". ‌

He pointed to official figures which show Glasgow saw an increase of 1,300 homelessness applications in a single year from asylum seekers granted leave to remain, with refugee households currently making up 41 per cent of the city's applications. ‌

It comes amid an increasingly bitter blame game between Labour representatives in Glasgow and the SNP administration on the city council.
