HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A controversial crosswalk in Montrose is still blocked following protests over its removal early Monday morning.

Overnight, ABC13 crews saw a handful of protestors at what used to be a rainbow crosswalk at Westheimer and Taft following reports that it was going to be painted over.

Houston police could be seen setting up barricades across all four sides of the intersection.

SkyEye flew over the intersection just before 8 a.m., and the crosswalk appeared to be covered but still blocked by construction crews.

Since it is a major intersection, this will likely impact residents in the area.
