All fall things have returned to Aubie Smith Farms in Ooltewah and with it comes a little more fun for the kiddos along with a history in lesson in something we've been wearing and using for more than 7,000 years – cotton.
In addition to all things pumpkin, fall and farm this season, Aubie and Michelle Smith have added a cotton field with an educational and hands-on touch. We learned that cotton is in more than just clothing for example it's in crackers, candle wicks, baseballs, tea bags, coffee filters, salad dressing and more.
You or your kids can harvest the cotton, run it through the cotton gin to take the seeds out and sew together a small stuffed animal with your cotton inside.
