JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WKRG) — A Jackson County deputy was killed after a crash on Oct. 17 while headed home after his shift.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office news release, 45-year-old Deputy Joshua Brashears was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 15 near the Harrison and Stone County line.

Brashears was taken to Biloxi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the release.

"Deputy Brashears faithfully served the residents of Jackson County since joining the Sheriff's Office in 2023," read the release. "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and extend our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to his family."

The crash happened around 5:35 a.m. Friday.
