(FOX40.COM) — National Teen Driver Safety Week takes place from Oct. 19 to Oct. 25, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reminding the community of the importance of teaching teens about safety precautions behind the wheel.

A total of 2,611 people were killed in traffic crashes that involved a teen driver, according to 2023 statistics and 822 of those killed were the teen driver. NHTSA said that 604 out of the 2,611 killed were the passengers of a teen driver, while 377 of the fatalities were teens riding with other teens.
