As the government shut down continues and in the wake of the latest nationwide "No Kings Day" protest , President Donald Trump continues to be a polarizing president.

Ratings slipped a bit on some polls and rose on others, but overall, the president's approval rating has been relatively stable in recent months. While absolutely unpopular to some Americans, Trump's overall approval rating isn’t unusually low, though Trump’s second term has been marked by a series of unconventional - and often unprecedented - actions.

All the while, the federal government has remained shut down since Oct. 1, after Congress failed to reach a deal on funding, which left federal workers, some military members and other Americans to worry about critical paychecks.
