Australians will feel the heat this week as record-breaking temperatures continue to rip through parts of the country.
Heat built up across much of Western and central Australia through the weekend, with temperatures soaring to between 12 and 26 degrees above average.
“In some locations that resulted in record October heat,” Bureau of Meteorology senior metrologist Dean Narramore said.
Temperatures reached a record-breaking 44.3C in Telfer, WA, as well as Warburton, which reached 43.6C on Saturday.
Their October record was broken again the next day with the mercury soaring to 43.9C.
Pukatea (Ernabella) in South Australia’s north hit 40.9C - another October record - with Tarcoola in the state’s south reaching 43.8C.
