HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A woman who allegedly shot her husband in Westmoreland County has been charged with homicide.

According to state police, Leeann Steel, 51, called emergency responders on Oct. 18 to tell them she shot her husband, William Steel. Advertisement

When authorities arrived to the home on Merlin Lane in Hempfield Township, they found William Steel in a bedroom surrounded by blood.

He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Leeann Steel was taken into custody in a neighboring yard following the shooting.

The criminal complaint states during her 911 confession, Leeann Steel shot her husband in the heart after a dispute.
