SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Avera Health will end its participation as a provider in the Aetna Medicare Advantage Network after reportedly experiencing issues that “negatively affected the patient experience”.
Avera says they’ve informed patients who carry Aetna Medicare Advantage coverage about the change, and can select a new plan between now through Dec. 7.
Among the reported issues that are causing issues for patients are denials and reduced reimbursement of services and care.
Patients who choose to keep the Aetna plan for 2026 can still receive care from Avera, but services would likely be out of network.
According to Avera, if you’re affected by this change, you’ll receive a letter in the mail. From there, you should contact your insurance agency or Chapter Medicine for
