Louisiana authorities said they believe a teenager was killed by a lightning strike over the weekend after his family became worried when he did not return from deer hunting.

According to a news statement from the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office in Farmerville, first responders went to Robert Welch Road, near the Weldon community in Bernice, at about 8:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, Oct. 18, upon being notified of an injured person.
