SMITHS STATION, Ala. (WTVM) - The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect following a shooting in Smiths Station.

According to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, A 34-year-old man was shot at Sawyers Mobile Home Park on LR 246 Sunday evening. During the investigation, deputies arrested a 20-year-old man at a nearby grocery store in connection with the shooting.

The victim was taken to Jack Hughston Medical Center for treatment, but died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to Jones.

Jones states that the incident appears to be the result of a dispute between the two men involved.
